Electronic Cigarette Companies Win the FDA Court Battle
After almost nine months of waiting, on January 14, 2010, A Federal Court Judge ruled in favor of an American based supplier of electronic cigarettes who brought a law suit against the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Services.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) recently gained the power to regulate tobacco products but as electronic cigarettes do not contain tobacco nor any known carcinogens then they were not within the remit of powers of the FDA to regulate electric cigarettes.
This can be seen as a huge victory for the American consumer as electronic cigarettes will now be readily available, just like conventional cigarettes. Smokers will be able to purchase the electronic cigarette as a smoking alternative, wherever they can find conventional cigarettes. Basically a smoker now has the choice to choose between smoking traditional cigarettes or using the new revolutionary electronic cigarettes.
Electronic cigarettes deliver nicotine but don’t burn or use tobacco and therefore do not produce any smoke. There is no second or third-hand smoke (no passive smoke) which statistics say kills about 15,000 people annually.
There are literally hundreds of brands of Electronic cigarettes on the market. As with any new, mass market product, you will always find good and bad versions. When choosing an electronic cigarette make sure you go with a reputable brand, that is established and has a good track record.
